The Organisation

Independence Australia is a national social enterprise that provide choices for people living with a disability or other personal needs, supporting them to regain and retain their independence.  We achieve this by providing supports to in-home clients, specialist psychology services, support coordination across Victoria and delivering a broad range of products and aids through our national network of warehouses

The Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Rostering Officer, to work within a close and supportive team of Rostering Officers. Reporting to the Rostering team leader, this role plays a critical role in linking the daily support requirements of our clients to a large pool of skilled support workers. 

With a strong focus on consumer engagement, the incumbent will be the designated point of contact to maintain effective relationship between Disability Support Workers and clients in order to achieve best outcomes for our clients. 

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

  • Qualification in Community Services related discipline or equivalent;
  • Previous experience in rostering and coordinating staff in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to negotiate and think on the feet;
  • Competence in using Microsoft applications and data base driven rostering systems e.g. Carelink;
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively as an affective team member; as well as autonomously
  • Empathetic and understanding with high attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Experience in working with disability support workers and knowledge of the disability sector;
  • Experience working in a similar capacity in a community based not-for-profit organisation;
  • Availability to work a rotating roster
