Are you excited by the challenge of solving big data problems in the EdTech sector through innovative engineering and product management? Do you enjoy solving complex challenges with open source technologies in a fast-paced, collaborative, and creative environment? We’re looking for an influential product manager to provide strategic direction on initiatives with significant impact to our bottom line.
Pivot Professional Learning is a Melbourne-based company offering evidence-based tools, data analytics and practical support to help improve teacher effectiveness in schools. We provide actionable insights to educators and a voice to students, using technology to continue to enhance education outcomes and learning experiences. Since our founding in 2014 we have grown to work with over 700 schools across Australia and have an exciting 2020 in store as we continue to scale and deepen our product experience. We have positive revenue growth and thus are well placed to continue to invest in enhancing our product as we continue to this next phase.
This newly created Product Manager role is our first external hire to strengthen our product management capability. Working directly with the CEO and founders you will shape both the direction of the product roadmap and the culture of how we go about shipping great product to our customers. This role requires an independent thinker who makes convincing, evidence-based decisions in a collaborative setting. This role is an integral part of our growth strategy and for the right person will lead to growth within the organisation.
The Product Manager will:
Be responsible and accountable for shipping products that create value for our customers and the business.
Own and manage the product backlog playing the role of Product Owner in a scrum environment, with some remote teammates. You will be required to write crystal clear user stories and be a master planner.
Improve our product through excellent Product Discovery. You are curious and analytical, value customer and stakeholder input, then use this data to inform what we should build and why.
Be comfortable and effective in a fast paced start-up. You move and speed and pull people together from across functions, leading the collaboration to ensure we get to the very best outcomes for our customers.
Take ideas and concepts, and visualize them in such ways that they are communicated effectively and compellingly for internal leaders, partners and customers
Experience and philosophies we value
A Product Management ace with a proven track record of delivering top class digital products. You are curious in nature who loves to obsess over hard to solve problems.
A relentless drive to get stuff done. You like to roll-up your sleeves and get stuck in. You are comfortable with ambiguity and will take an idea and make it happen; you persevere when others fall away.
The ability to weigh up trade-offs, make tough calls and prioritise effectively in a collaborative manner.
You value customer input and actively seek out ways to test your hypotheses early and often. You use data to make informed decisions and make sure you focus on building the stuff that really matters.
Demonstrable experience in the education technology field.
Familiarity with PHP, Bootstrap, and Amazon Web Services.
Well-developed communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and persuade others.
