Our new Technical Writer is based in our Commercial and Customer Enablement branch in our Brisbane Business Centre.

Our Brisbane Business Centre is located in the Centre of Queensland’s bustling state capital, and is within walking distance of Central Station and a variety of cafes, restaurants, and CBD-shopping. This office supports a key customer, vendor, government and industry engagement space, providing modern, open and collaborative work spaces for our software development, software support, and customer and commercial group operations.

Role Requirements:

In this exciting new role, we're looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and passionate technical writer to join our Product Knowledge, Training and Deployment team.

The technical writer will plan, develop, and publish user and integration documentation to support users of our suite of medical software. You will liaise with product analysts, developers, and subject matter experts to produce user-oriented help content in a variety of publishing formats.

As a technical writer, you will:

  • Research, write, and maintain user help content using Madcap Flare for audiences of different technical skill levels and user roles;

  • Use exceptional written English skills to produce user help content that is concise, accessible, and consistent with business style and branding standards;

  • Engage with SDLC stakeholders to estimate, plan, create, and deliver help and release documentation according to project timeframes and release schedules;

  • Understand the documentation review cycle in a software development environment;

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of help content templates and delivery methods;

  • Manage multiple projects and manage time to set and meet deadlines;

  • Work collaboratively with other team members and internal stakeholders.

  • Relevant tertiary education in a communications-related field;

  • Experience creating user documentation in a software development environment;

  • Ability to understand technical concepts and translate concepts into instructions suitable for non-technical audiences;

  • Ability to work autonomously in a multi-disciplined team;

  • Sound time management and organisational skills;

  • Experience with MadCap Flare or similar to create user help content;

  • Understanding of HTML5 and CSS;

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software tools and technologies in technical communication;

  • Experience working with work-tracking software such as JIRA;

  • Experience using content management systems and source control systems such as Git, SVN, or Team Foundation Server;

  • Sound knowledge of the software development process, particularly in an agile environment;

  • Experience with meda creation tools such a Camtasia (desirable).
