Legal Counsel - Financial Services - 6-8 years PQE

The Role

Our client's Sydney office is currently seeking an experienced senior finance lawyer to join its in-house legal team, as 2IC to the Senior Legal Counsel.

This is a business critical role which will include:

  • Designing processes to support the Legal team to operate efficiently.
  • Developing an understanding of the legal aspects of receivables, trade finance, asset finance and the personal property securities law.
  • Signing off complex and high value transactions.
  • Transaction & panel law firm management.
  • Drafting and structuring facility and security documents, default and enforcement documents.
  • Negotiation of legal documents including priority deeds.
  • Developing processes, precedent legal documents and building know-how.
  • Being the first point of contact with regards to legal agreements, processes and legal questions.
  • Providing accurate and timely completion of Facility documentation.
  • Registering, transferring and de-registering security interests and completing release documentation.

About You

To be successful in this role you will be a Senior Lawyer with the following:

  • 6-8 years' PQE in banking, finance, corporate finance, general commercial, corporate and personal property securities law. Your experience will have been acquired working for a leading mid-top tier law firm;
  • You will be highly flexible and adaptable - you will be able to work in an open-plan environment, be pro-active in implementing change to improve systems and efficiencies identified, and be able to work in a changing environment where processes and procedures are still being implemented and are changing;
  • You will have significant experience working on and leading major transactions;
  • You will be able to lead, help manage and mentor more junior staff;
  • You will have a positive attitude.

In-house experience will be highly regarded but is not essential for this role.
