North East Family Medicine is a General Practice clinic in Wangaratta.  We currently have three General Practitioners, two practice nurses and an administration team of four. We are seeking a Practice Manager to assist our new practice in its phase of growth and beyond. We opened one year ago and in that time have established ourselves as a quality, innovative practice with a cohesive team. We have achieved accreditation with AGPAL, have already outgrown our clinical space, and are moving to new rooms. The two principal GP’s are passionate about running a high quality, inclusive, sustainable practice. They chose to start up the clinic themselves to ensure they had a clear understanding of the working of the clinic, but have reached the point of growth where they need to hand over leadership. The assistance we require is from a motivated team player who can coach our team through this phase of growth and into the future with the aim of continuing to deliver the principal’s vision of a high quality, modern medical clinic. We seek a practice manager with experience who has a proven record of leading teams and managing change.

We expect this role to be four days per week but this is negotiable with the right candidate. Aim to start February 2020.

Reporting directly to the practice principals, key responsibilities include:

  • Work to achieve the vision of the principal partners
  • Lead, coach and motivate a team to reach the practice goals
  • Front desk and administration support
  • Managing the employee lifecycle of all staff including recruitment, induction, training, appraisal of staff and their ongoing development
  • Managing rostering of doctors, nurses and staff
  • Maintain and ensure continuous improvement of service and quality standards across all domains of the practice
  • Taking the lead role in maintaining accreditation with AGPAL
  • Managing accounts payable and receivable in a timely manner
  • Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports as directed
  • Acting as the conduit between practice staff and practitioners
  • Have an understanding of compliance, legislative and accreditation requirements relating to General Practice
  • Develop and monitor systems, processes and procedures with the ability to recognise and implement changes and improvements as necessary

Essential Criteria:

  • General Practice Management experience at a minimum of 2-3 years
  • Certificate IV and/or Diploma in Practice Management or HR/Business Management studies highly regarded
  • Proficient computer skills – either Best Practice or other practice software
  • An excellent understanding of patient billing and receipting
  • The ability to develop and communicate procedures and processes
  • Flexibility in hours of work to maintain business requirements as needed
  • Genuine empathy for patient welfare and superior customer service by "leading by example"
  • Ensuring practitioners and staff adhere to best practice standards
  • Having passion and ambition to develop this role
