Job Summary 
This is an exciting and rewarding career opportunity for a Female Correctional Case Officer.  As the first hires for the state-of-the-art Clarence Correctional Centre in Grafton, you’ll get the opportunity to use your skills and experience in assisting with the pre-operational activities as we expand our workforce ready for commencing operations in July 2020.

The Clarence Correctional Centre is due to open mid 2020 with a 1700 bed facility, making it the largest and most state-of-the-art Correctional Centre in Australia. About the opportunity 
As a Correctional Case Officer, you will be responsible for the management, supervision, care, rehabilitation, reintegration and provision of services to the people in our care.  A key component of your role will be to actively participate in supporting individuals throughout their sentence whilst monitoring and maintaining the security of the centre. Your position is a frontline role and is key to embedding Serco’s operating principles at the multi-functional correctional centre. 

You will play an integral role in promoting rehabilitation and reintegration, ensuring the safety and security in the centre and the community, and provide a safe and respectful environment to everyone in the centre.
This role also offers the opportunity to join the Emergency Response Team (ERT) as an ERT Officer.   ERT Officers who have successful passed the ERT Training Course are then certified to conduct specialist duties and responses in addition to their Correctional Case Officer role.   You'll need excellent communication, interpersonal and people management skills. You'll be security focused, calm under pressure and physically fit enough to operate for extended periods using specialist ERT equipment.
You'll need to pass some additional initial testing to ensure you meet the required fitness standards for an ERT Officer before you can attend the ERT Training Course.   If this specialisation is of interest to you, express your interest when submitting your application.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have similar experience within a correctional /custodial environment
  • Hold your Certificate III Correctional Practice (CSC30115) or;
  • Be willing to obtain your Certificate III Correctional Practice (CSC30115) provided by Serco
  • Undertake Comprehensive Induction Training (approximately 10-12 weeks)
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Serco’s values and the rehabilitation process
  • Demonstrate a competent level of computer literacy and report writing
  • Possess proficient interpersonal and communication skills
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and ethical behaviour
