About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Parent Mentor to join our Starting Out program. The role is based at Croydon, with travel across the eastern suburbs. The position is part time 5 hours per week, and initially maximum term until 29 November 2020.

The Starting Out program is designed to provide an innovative support service for:

  • Young people 25 years of age or younger who are pregnant or parenting
  • People experiencing difficulties that impact on parenting and family life

The Parent Mentor will:

  • Support the Starting Out team of specialist Social Workers
  • Help to provide both group work and general support to young parents and their children
  • Role-model and mentor positive parenting and play with young parents
  • Bring their personal experiences of young parenting – from lived experience and/or relevant studies
