Business Development Representative

  • Permanent full-time role with a specialist organisation.

An exciting opportunity exists for a full-time Business Development Representative to join our team and to be part of a growing national organisation delivering first-class service and products. This role will work closely with, and report directly to the National Business Development Manager to capture new opportunities and manage client relationships to increase revenue.

We are searching for an experienced, detail-focused and proactive professional driven by strategic targets and objectives. This role is a driving force for new business sales and a key element to bringing on new accounts for the company.

This role will best suit a candidate with a strong background in a business development role with relevant experience in Marine and Offshore, Industrial and / or Defence. Employed on a full-time basis, your main duties will involve, however not limited to:

  • Identify new business opportunities and establish strategies for pursuing those new opportunities.
  • Pitch services and product offerings to new customers and present winning proposals to secure new business.
  • Seek, evaluate and assist in the development and submission of strong, conforming tender proposals.
  • Develop and maintain a sound knowledge of existing company services and products as well as an understanding of the company’s potential capability in new markets.
  • Plan and prepare presentations and assist with the development of marketing literature.
  • Travel to visit potential and existing customers to promote the company, maintaining a strong customer engagement.
  • Conduct research to identify requirements for current and future services and products, in line with the company’s documented strategic objectives.
  • Enhance Company reputation and explore new opportunities to add value to the business.
  • Attend relevant trade shows, conferences, industry briefings and networking events.
  • Maintain good working relationships with customers, suppliers and Original Equipment Manufacturers.
  • Meet company sales targets and budgets and provide accurate forecasts to the National Business Development Manager.
  • Develop and deliver regular reports on client contacts, enquiries, tenders, new clients etc.
  • Maintain records and registers for Customer Relationship Management in the company’s prescribed ERP system.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Tertiary Qualifications or minimum of 10 years’ experience working in a Business Development role, preferably with a service business, with relevant industry experience in Marine & Offshore, Industrial and/or Defence.
  • Previous sales experience in a competitive market.
  • A profit driven focus with a resilient attitude towards meeting financial goals and targets.
  • Ability to easily develop strong, long-lasting relationships
  • Excellent planning, time management and organisational skills.
  • Proven negotiation and tendering experience with the ability to influence a positive outcome.
  • A high standard of personal presentation along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflict and ability to adapt to various tasks allocated.
  • Strong work ethic, enthusiastic and conscientious with a flexible approach.
  • Ability to travel nationally to deliver national growth and revenue targets.
  • Knowledge of ERP Systems and sound computer skills in Microsoft Office.
