The Role

The Software Engineer is responsible for both front end and back end web development (full stack) and will be working across multiple products touching the lives of millions of Australians and around the world.

This role will work as part of a team of experienced analysts, developers and business resources to build high-performing scalable applications and web services in a demanding, cross-functional development environment where e-commerce, high volume transactional systems, micro-services applications feature strongly.

Day to day, you will be responsible for:

  • Application design, development and deployment across a diverse range of web and data technologies
  • Coding and unit/integration testing
  • Assisting with the preparation of release documentation, identifying dependencies and deployment criteria

The Person

As a Software Engineer, you will have a good mix of the following technical skills and experience:

  • Primarily .NET / ASP.NET / C#
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL Server SQL and non-relational datastores, ideally MongoDB
  • Strong understanding of SOLID design principles
  • Experience with ASP.NET MVC, LINQ, RESTful WebAPI
  • Experience building microservices and data pipelines
  • Client-side web development technologies including HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, Javascript and associated frameworks like React
  • Exposure to CI/CD practices and principles - Jenkins, Octopus etc.
  • Knowledge of Source Control Systems including Git
  • Experience with applications deployed into highly-available cloud platforms (eg AWS) and considerations for building distributed applications.
  • Experience developing in other languages, especially Python or Node.js will be valued
