Football Operations Manager - AFL Mackay

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Football Operations Manager is responsible for the professional administration and day-to-day operations of senior and junior football competitions and AFL9s, within the Mackay region.

 

As a member of the Queensland Senior Football Operations team and working with the region’s Advisory board, the incumbent will be responsible for all competition management, including; planning, scheduling, financial management and communication with clubs, umpires and other key stakeholders.

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

  • Oversee all registrations and transfers
  • Manage all competition fixturing arrangements
  • Oversee weekly match day tasks, including all match day paperwork
  • Respond to club enquiries, including match day issues
  • Schedule and chair post, mid and end of season club meetings
  • Attend and coordinate Advisory Board meetings and work closely with individual board members
  • Administer AFLQ rules and procedures and manage associated issues
  • Provide support to the local Umpires Association
  • Attend and co-ordinate league competition meetings as required
  • Manage finals series
  • Appoint independent tribunal and co-ordinate tribunal hearings
  • Attend weekend matches
  • Oversee media content on league communications, including club communications and website
  • Assist with procurement and management of commercial partnerships for the competitions
  • Provide support to clubs to improve processes and procedures with regard to club administration
  • Financial management of competition budgets, club affiliation finances and umpiring payments
  • Promote, organise and conduct local AFL9’s competitions
  • Assist Game Development Manager to deliver Game Development programs in Term 1 and 4 and or as required.

  • Demonstrated organisational & planning skills
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy in Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Ability to identify problems and provide quality solutions
  • Ability to remain effective when faced with changing tasks, responsibilities or people
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Current Queensland Drivers Licence

 

Desirable:

  • Understating of club and league environments
  • Understanding of AFL Queensland competitions structure
