STBA Centre Manager

The STBA is seeking a person to undertake a 3 month trial period as Centre Manager for our badminton centre in South Hobart.  There is the potential for this role to extend.  Applications close 6th February 2020.

The STBA is Tasmania’s largest badminton association with over 1000 current members, and badminton facility.  The centre manager role will assist in facilitating the needs of our members; providing a day-to-day presence at the centre; and a conduit from the managing committee.  The tasks/activities that will form part of this role are:

  • Ideally (negotiable), 3pm to 10pm Weekdays and includes closing the centre at 10pm.
  • Managing courts and usage
  • Manages our online court hire system
  • Social hall hire
  • Manages racquet hire and shuttle sales
  • Updates roster results on a weekly basis
  • Coordinates casual sessions and session managers
  • Updates signage/notices around the centre
  • Answers the STBA phone, and centre emails
  • Enforces/manages policies, safety, records incidents
  • Provides assistance/help/information to members or walk ins
  • Collects fees/registrations/membership
  • Manages membership database, emails and communications
  • Banking
  • Assist with grants, applications or fund raising
  • Maintenance notification
  • Equipment upkeep
  • Website updates
  • Social media updates
  • Assist with/manage events (social, tournaments, schools, private)
  • Assist with growth/opportunities
  • Assist with or possibly run/coordinate night rosters and afternoon rosters
  • Engage with and support committee and development officer initiatives
  • Reporting to committee

In addition to the above, the STBA also expects the successful applicant to:

  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Present a cheerful, friendly and helpful public face to our organisation
  • Work well with set tasks and achieve broad outcomes with minimal supervision
  • Be able to contribute ideas and improvements
  • Be relatively IT literate (online applications, office 365, word, excel, bulk email)
  • Provide or obtain at our cost a working with vulnerable people registration
  • Have or obtain at our cost a first aid certificate

Not mandatory but viewed favourably would be:

  • Familiarity with badminton or a sport/association
  • Any sports, fitness or business-related qualification, certificate or diploma
  • Greater IT literacy (websites, databases, programming, networks)
  • Experience working in a similar environment (sports centre, fitness business)
  • Experience with any of: grants; funding applications; fund raising
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol license
