Laboratory Technician & Laboratory Assistant - Clayton

Two positions have become available at our Clayton Laboratory. We are seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician (12 month contract) and a full-time Laboratory Assistant (permanent) to join our team!

Australian Clinical Labs (Clinical Labs) is one of Australia’s leading pathology companies with a vision centred on leadership in science, technology and people.  Clinical Labs has over 80 accredited pathology laboratories and 1000 collection centres across Australia and provides diagnostic pathology services to more than 7.5 million people each year.

About the Roles

In these roles, you will conduct a range of diagnostic genetics testing that requires the application of scientific technical knowledge and skills, with significant depth in molecular methods. These positions involve working in a fast paced environment and will be suitable for an energetic individual who prides themselves in the level of accuracy in their work.

Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Sample receipt and triage
  •  Data entry (patient and test details)
  •  Nucleic acid extraction
  •  Perform polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays
  •  Analysis of assay results
  • General laboratory duties

About you

  • Tertiary qualification (Degree level preferred
  • At least 2 years laboratory experience (Pathology experience would be an advantage)
  • Knowledge of molecular techniques
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • High attention to detail and experience working in a fast pace environment
  • An enthusiastic and flexible approach to work
  • An ability to multitask and successfully work as part of a team

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in molecular biology techniques
  • Knowledge of pathology testing
  • Degree in science majoring in genetics/molecular biology
