Library Officer

We are seeking a Library Officer to join our temporary team working with a professional government department in Ipswich. This role involves shelving library books (ensuring high attention to detail) and providing customer service to library customers.

Flexibility to undertake a range of casual hours (up to 20 hours per week) rostered across a seven day roster with shifts offered between the hours of 8:00am - 7:00pm (shifts vary in length generally between 5 and 8 hours duration and weekend work will be limited).

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Warm and friendly communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written) to interact positively and effectively with a diverse range of clients.
  • High level of attention to detail, ideally with experience shelving in a library environment (or transferable skills from a similar environment such as a video store, book store or similar).
  • Good spelling, reading, writing and visual accuracy skills
  • Intermediate computer skills (and ability to learn and assist others with basic enquiries in the course of providing customer service on the job)
  • Physical fitness and capability to perform manual handling / shelving tasks associated with the role
  • C class licence essential (may need to drive a business vehicle in the course of employment)
