UX/UI Designer

What's it about?

We’re looking for a UX Designer who will help strengthen our understanding of our users and will conceptualise and design best-practice, intuitive solutions that meet user and business goals.

The ideal candidate should have an eye for clean and artful design, possess superior visual design skills, be able to translate high-level requirements into world class interface designs with deep focus on balancing people’s needs, business drivers and technical possibilities.

Role Responsibilities

  • Excellent knowledge of UX /UI design and understand principles when designing for native devices.
  • UI/UX interaction/animation design and the ability to tell compelling stories through motion
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and unite business goals and user goals
  • Work closely with software engineers to deliver any necessary additional design assets and guidance during development

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for a talented hybrid UI/UX Designer,  someone who’s driven by problem solving and designing great experiences, whilst being obsessive over the craft of visual and motion interaction.

You’ll have a broad skillset and being comfortable with customer journey mapping, user research/testing, information architecture, competitor analysis, product wireframes, interactive prototypes, motion and UI design.

  • You are technically strong with modern design tools (we use Figma).
  • You have developed an effortless understanding and appreciation of UI patterns and where to use them across web and app.
  • You have strong communication skills, with the ability to present and articulate design decisions to the team.
  • You flourish in a collaborative, fast-paced agile environment.
  • At least 3-5 year experience.
  • A portfolio that makes others jealous.

What do we like?

Confident storytelling
You can tell a good story around any piece of work – it doesn't just look good, but you can explain why it's been created that way, to anyone who needs to hear it. And hopefully make them laugh along the way.

Drive
We're not talking about motivation here, that should be a given. All of our people at all levels are free to own their work and think creatively. You need to care about the quality of the work you do and the impact it will have on the lives of the people you’re creating it for.

Problem solving
Any designer worth their salt can make a pretty UI, but we’re after exceptional thinkers who can make sense of the complicated and translate that into layouts that people instantly find familiar and usable, guiding the team to the right solution.

What's in it for you?

You'll get the chance to work in an environment that has an enormous appetite for change; a place that truly values and fosters the innovation you can bring to the teams you work with. We try to be as lean as we can, avoiding red tape and bureaucracy. We do our best to maintain the 'startup' look and feel, but without the constraints and overheads usually associated with less well-established organisations.

We're small enough that your voice will be heard loud and clear, and your (excellent) ideas and innovations will be championed and rapidly adopted. And we're large enough that we can execute on these ideas at scale and your work will be used by hundreds of thousands of (happy) customers.

But wait, there's more. As well as being an awesome place to innovate, drive change and make a difference, amaysim also tries to be a place that keeps you excited to come in on a Monday morning through all kinds of fun extras, including:

  • an amaysim phone plan (what else??) and a generous subsidy towards a new phone/tablet to use it on
  • an extra day of annual leave on your birthday
  • join the annual company on Culture Days to discuss and shape how the company is run
  • a thriving social life, with events happening most months
  • free F45 training at lunchtimes and yoga/pilates
  • and many, many others...
