Assistant Accountant

THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join our practice as an Assistant Accountant. The successful applicant will be part of a small finance team and work collaboratively within the team environment to promote a culture of mutual respect and encouragement. This will entail building relationships with key stakeholders and working with others in a professional, ethical and cooperative manner.  The hours are flexible and may be tailored to suit either a full time or part time applicant.

You will be responsible for a range of accounting matters for the Melbourne and Sydney studio working closely with and reporting to the Commerical Leader.

The position will include specific areas of responsibility whilst also allowing for growth within the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to –

  • Payroll calculation, processing, administration and maintenance for an organisation of some 100 staff
  • Preparation and lodgement of payroll related statutory compliance and reporting
  • Timesheet and leave recording and management
  • Accounts payable
  • Monthly and annual reporting
  • Processing and reconciliation of accounting transactions
  • Participating in and contributing to improvement strategies for all financial processes and development of analytical and reporting processes

Key attributes -

  • Strong communications skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Experience in a similar payroll environment
  • Advanced Word and Excel skills
  • Excellent organisational skills, planning capabilities, and the ability to balance the demands of competing projects
  • Good investigative, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Accounting or similar qualification

Experience Required

  • 3-5 years working in a similar role, preferably in a design environment
  • Experience with Deltek Vision would be highly regarded
