Site Accountant

  • Permanent staff position in the Gunnedah basin
  • Attractive salary package including bonus, housing allowance & full relocation
  • Monday to Friday roster with option of 9 day fortnight

About the Company:

Our client is Idemitsu who have been operating in Australia since 1978. Boggabri Coal Mine, is located in North-West NSW and is an open-cut coal operation producing in excess of 7 million tonnes per annum and has a mine life extending through until 2033.

About the Role:

As part of the Finance Team reporting to the Commercial Superintendent, you will be responsible for the day-to-day finance function providing financial and management support and adding to organisations consistent performance through delivery of accurate and timely information in accordance with business requirements.

Some additional responsibilities would include:

  • Maintain financial systems and policies to record day-to-day financial transactions in accordance with company policies.
  • Prepare and analyse financial reports, budgets and forecasts, ensuring they are completed in a timely fashion and in accordance with aligned goals and deadlines.
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, accounting records, fixed asset registers and capital project reporting in SAP.
  • Reconcile and perform analysis of general ledge accounts.
  • Providing support to departmental managers and management with analysis, reporting and presenting in relation to capital applications, budget and forecast variance, cost control.
  • Assist with auditor activity and queries.

Some of the skills & experience we are looking for include:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Business/Commerce.
  • CA/CPA desirable or willingness to undertake accreditation.
  • 3+ years' experience in a hands on accounting environment, relatable industry is desired.
  • Advanced skill with Microsoft Office (Excel), and experience with an ERP system (SAP preferred).
  • Ability to work as part of a self-managing, multi skilled team.
  • Advanced literacy, numeracy skills for reporting and analysis, and financial acumen
  • Ability to collaborate, communicate with team members to establish goals.
