The Opportunity

City of Melton is looking for a motivated and responsive Infringement Review Officer who would like to join its Legal and Governance team.

We are seeking a person with well-developed written and verbal communication skills that enjoy working in a busy and fast paced legislative environment. As an Infringement Review officer you will provide professional and efficient management of the end to end administrative processing of infringement reviews and deliver excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide end to end administrative processing of infringement reviews within statutory timeframes.
  • Make administrative decisions in relation to infringement review applications in accordance with administrative law principles, relevant legislation (Infringements Act, Victorian Road Rules, Domestic Animals Act, Council's General Local Law), any departmental guidelines and any internal policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical advice and draft written responses to queries from applicants and other MCC stakeholders explaining review outcomes and addressing any customer concerns.
  • Provide input into policy development and process improvements.
  • Undertake other duties and projects as directed.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Post-secondary qualification in legal administration or law or a substantial experience in a paralegal role desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of the Local Government Act, Infringements Act, Victorian Road Rules, Domestic Animals Act and Council's General Local Law.
  • Experience and understanding of the administrative law principles.
  • Highly developed computer skills and sound knowledge of Windows based applications and databases.
  • Current valid Victorian drivers licence.
