Our new Business Systems Leader is based in our Business Support team at our Bundaberg Operations Hub.

The original base of Best Practice Software, and now a major operational nerve centre for the company’s operations, our Bundaberg Operations Hub is located in the regional city’s Central Business District, on the central coast of Queensland, just four hours’ drive – or a 40 minute flight – north of Brisbane.

Bundaberg is an important provincial business, government and agricultural service city. Our facilities in Bundaberg form part of one of Australia’s largest health-IT campuses and includes three modern purpose-fit buildings accommodating a busy national support centre, and a variety of software development and commercial operations.

Role Requirements:

The IT Business Systems Lead is responsible for business and process analysis, application design and development, operational support, and maintenance for business applications - CRM, Finance, Payroll, HRIS, SharePoint pages/resources, and Corporate Website.

The position combines supervisory responsibilities with hands-on technical expertise. You will be responsible for staff and budget management, stakeholder engagement, continuous service improvement and the end-to-end lifecycle management of the Business applications - strategy, planning, architecture, requirements, solution design, development, quality assurance and production support.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Business Systems function, providing high-quality, reliable, and value for money application services aligned to the business

  • Provide leadership, vision and direction to team members and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with the company and stakeholder goals and objectives

  • Define and enhance methodologies and practices for the application life cycle management in line with best practice and practical experience of continuous improvement

  • Supervise team members, setting and tracking work priorities and provide them with support, coaching and development

  • Implement and manage application life cycle management status reporting, metrics and benchmarks

  • As required, manage relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure they cost-effectively meet the needs of the organisation

  • Manage the IT Service Request process to ensure it effectively meets the needs of the key business stakeholders.  

  • Lead the prioritisation forum to prioritise projects and service requests

  • Plan and manage business application projects, tracking and reporting on scope, time, budget and quality

  • Facilitate the gathering of business requirements, managing them from scoping through to delivery

  • Define the functional and non-functional requirements for business applications

  • Develop the solution, and oversee the development progress, to ensure consistency with initial design, ensuring meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc.

  • Define test plan, test cases and acceptance criteria

  • Undertake and manage all stages of testing, ensuring the entry and exit criteria are met

  • Provide and manage tier 1 – tier 3 application support

  • Monitor all performance metrics for the business applications, identify root cause for technical issues and drive the improvement action plan

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business or related field

  • Extensive experience in business analysis, business process analysis and improvement, business requirements management, project management and developing functional and non-functional specifications

  • Experience in supporting and maintaining business applications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience leading the business applications’ function within an organisation

  • Proven excellent customer service delivery experience

  • Efficiently & creatively solves difficult, complex problems

  • Experience in managing development and support vendors (as required)

  • Experience in defining and managing service level agreements

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills

  • Experience managing risk and compliance requirements

  • ITIL service management experience and certification - desirable
