Marketing and Communications Assistant

Healthe Care Australia (Healthe Care) is one of the country's largest privately owned private hospital operators. The company employs over 7,000 staff and currently has 37 private hospitals in major metropolitan and regional areas throughout Australia that provide acute, mental health, rehabilitation, regional and community care services. 

South Coast Private Hospital is an 82 bed private mental health facility in the heart of Wollongong. The hospital offers inpatient and day patient programs to treat mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse and trauma. South Coast Private is seeking an experienced Marketing and Communications Assistant to assist with ongoing marketing requirements, particularly in the growing field of digital marketing.

This appointment is a casual position, minimum 2 days per week with increased hours required to meet deliverables and deadlines. Days and hours can be flexible according to individual needs.

Job Summary

  • Completed Bachelor's degree is essential, ideally in a relevant field such as marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, graphic design, digital media etc.
  • Assist the Marketing and Business Development Manager with marketing and communications activities, particularly in relation to digital marketing.
  • Provide marketing support to develop and implement hospital specific marketing and communications activities including marketing material, stakeholder communications, advertising, newsletters and websites.
  • Assist Marketing Manager in busy times with Business Development activities - including health expos, and representing hospital at events.
  • Strong copywriting, editing and proof reading skills are essential.
  • Experience with excel, CRM databases, Google analytics, graphic design packages are essential

Primary relationships

This position reports to the Marketing and Communications Manager & CEO.

Within HCA, primary working relationships will be with the Hospital CEO, Marketing and Communications Manager, and hospital management and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Internal and external stakeholder newsletters – hospital liaison, writing and editing of articles, design and distribution
  • Other internal communications – writing and editing, facilitating signoffs
  • Website – management of content, editing, uploading, and ongoing management including Google analytics
  • Preparation and management of weekly Digital Marketing posts in social media.
  • Marketing material – preparing flyers etc from existing templates, and creating new flyers to company brand guidelines and hospital requirements
  • Branded material (brochures, invitations, banners, merchandise etc)
  • Stakeholder marketing – fax blasts, email blasts, hard copy mail outs
  • Marketing/ advertising campaigns and sponsorships – support roles in branding and campaign development, content creation, production of materials, liaison with suppliers and stakeholders, and rollout
  • Presentations – layout and design of PowerPoint presentations including org charts, flow diagrams, etc
  • Marketing tools and archives (templates, image library, presentations etc on the share drive and intranet) – organising, maintaining and managing content, facilitating updates and signoffs as required
  • participating in business development activities as the need arises.

Key skills and attributes

  •  Excellent writing skills – copywriting, proofing, collating material,
  • Experience with digital media, webpage editing, google analytics  
  • Strong project management and organisational skills including ability to juggle multiple projects and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Proven graphic design capabilities – fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop) to produce/ design flyers, brochures, web banners, etc
  • Strong proficiency in word processing, PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets, website maintenance and database/CRM administration
  • Strong oral communication and presentation skills
  • Dedicated and proactive – focused on timely, high quality delivery
  • Team player

Experience/qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree ideally in a relevant field such as marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, graphic design, digital media etc
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in marketing, communications including graphic design with demonstrated success
  • Some knowledge of the health care sector would be an advantage but not essential
