About the company:
Silverstone Edge is a transformation consultancy (NOT a recruitment agency) that has partnered with
The Department of Social Services to contract a number of APS6 and EL1 Assessment Officers.

About the roles:
We are seeking high quality assessment officers to analyse applications for a specific grant program and write recommendations for program decision makers.

The Communities Group, in the Department of Social Services, is a busy work environment and staffing requirements fluctuate in line with workloads.  Staff are required for an initial 3 month period to focus on the drafting of assessment reports to the delegate once all of the administrative actions have been completed by the processing teams.

An APS6 assessment officer works as part of an assessment team to evaluate applications and write assessment reports.  This includes delivering high quality assessment outcomes within specified timeframes.  Duties include evaluating information and preparing assessment reports, undertaking quality assurance checks on data entries, formatting documents and editing spelling and grammar.

In addition to the above, assessment officers at the EL1 level, may be required to build capability within the team and support the assessor/moderator staff to deliver high quality reports. A key differentiator between the APS6 and EL1 levels will be for the EL1 to take on a Quality Assurance role, acting as an additional check point for any assessments moving to the decision makers.

Other essential requirements for this role are:

  • Strong ability to write, write, write! Not just write well, but write within a  specified framework. This means excellent attention to detail and clear, concise communication.
  • Ability to follow standard procedures correctly and consistently
  • Working well as part of a team
  • Providing sound advice to support decision making and high quality outcomes
  • Self-motivated, with sound judgement and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Adaptable and able to learn and apply new information within the framework of operational policies and procedures
  • Baseline level security clearance a must
  • Flexibility  to take on other duties as directed

The Lowdown:
These roles will suit people with proven APS6 and EL1 experience who want to contribute to a fast-paced, high-energy environment, using their superlative communication skills to support the emerging needs of Australian communities.

What's in it for you?

  • Competitive remuneration
  • Ongoing professional and performance development
  • Committed, supportive leadership
