Laboratory Technician

The Role

In this role at Puma Bitumen’s new facility in Kwinana, you will be accountable for performing Quality Control (QC) testing of manufactured products according to the Puma Bitumen Quality Management system. You will interact closely with the Terminal Manager and Operators to understand testing requirements and to communicate results in a timely manner. You will also be responsible for ensuring the laboratory’s test equipment is calibrated according to the Puma Bitumen calibration schedule and for the general maintenance of the laboratory. The role will also contribute to the technical support of the facility.

The Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Control testing
  • Laboratory calibrations and equipment maintenance
  • Round Robin, Inter-lab, and Inter-Operator testing
  • Management of the laboratory consumables and equipment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Tertiary qualification in a science field or equivalent laboratory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Experience with quality control testing in a production environment
  • Proficient in equipment calibration, laboratory safety, analytical problem solving and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business requirements
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of bituminous binder tests, specifications and manufacturing processes is desirable
