Technician - Control Room (Ore Processing)

Join Australia's most exciting new underground mining project. Carrapateena will be a large scale world class mine built and operated by world class people. We are building a modern mine site in South Australia and getting operationally ready for seamless commissioning. This role is now available and we need your help.

About the Role

Location: Site based at Carrapateena

Roster: 8 days on 6 days off subject to coverage requirements; travel 100% on company time from Adelaide or Port Augusta

Reporting to: Site Operations Centre (SOC) Supervisor

Pay & Benefits: We offer competitive Australian mining industry pay and benefits. We can talk about specifics later.

 

Key Responsibilities

Technician - Control Room will focus on ensuring the value of Carrapateena is maximised. Specifically, this includes:

  • Remotely monitor and control equipment in the processing plant to assist in delivery of planned activities to meet and/or exceed daily targets. Respond quickly and escalate issues that are impacting priority work areas.
    • Optimise Ore Processing activities in collaboration with Ore Processing team.
    • Escalate critical alarms via two-way communications in a timely manner.
    • Validate equipment performance and instrument values on a monthly basis.
    • Communicate any tasks that can be opportunely performed in the shadow of planned/unplanned downtimes.
    • Understand the Control Room Technicians role in Emergency Management during an emergency/incident.
    • Drive continuous improvement to generate new ideas that will benefit the business.
    • Assist in the training and development of new team members in the SOC and Ore Processing environments.
    • Provide coverage for other functions in the Site Operations Centre and remain open to leadership roles that will help to drive the future capabilities of the SOC.
    • Provide support/assistance to the Ore Processing team and engage with others using HWWT principles.
    • Provide a duty of care to Carrapateena Mining team and stop any job that you feel is unsafe – Reporting it in the first instance to the Ore Processing Supervisors and SOC Coordinator.

 

Applicant Requirements

This role requires a values based individual with a desire to deliver best practice outcomes with skills and personal attributes including:

  • Proven Ore Processing experience / knowledge
    • Experience using CITECT / SCADA control systems
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
    • Ability to make timely decisions and work under pressure
    • Ability to address daily changes to meet targets
    • Intermediate Excel skills
    • Attention to detail
    • SharePoint knowledge (not essential)
    • A safety conscious mindset
    • Positive attitude
