Unit Overview

The Activation and Cultural Experience Unit develops and implements the strategic vision for activation, events, arts, culture, sponsorship and heritage at the City of Perth. The Unit drives leadership in cultural innovation, collaboration, and creativity, within a capital city context.

 
Key Objectives

  • Provide project management for temporary and ephemeral arts and cultural projects, services and programs.
  • Deliver and encourage dynamic cultural programming, sector development and commissioning across activation, arts and culture functions functions, with a particular focus on temporary and ephemeral arts programs and projects, including busking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and communicate on behalf of the City of Perth, and external stakeholders, to meet the objectives for temporary and ephemeral arts and culture programming.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver dynamic creative programming and events for a wide range of audiences, across all art disciplines, particularly for the purposes of arts and cultural development, and urban activation within Perth.
  • Assist the Activation team within Activation and Cultural Experience unit in working with the Sponsorship team, as well as external stakeholders to leverage the Arts Sponsorship and Grants Programs.
  • Coordinate and monitor the City’s Busking program including permit evaluation, commissioning and quality control.
  • Liaise across all relevant units to provide project management, and technical and professional advice for the City’s temporary and ephemeral arts and culture projects.
  • Supervise, coordinate and monitor the work of project teams, volunteers and external contractors/consultants.
  • Provide input into planning and implementing the City’s creative programming and exhibitions.
