About the Opportunity


The Administrative Support Officer provides administrative and support services to facilitate the operation of the Protocol & Special Events Team within the Office of the Commissioner. The position manages the Awards and Recognition Program for SES members.



About the NSW SES


The NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) is an emergency and rescue service made up almost entirely of volunteers and supported by a small staff contingent. NSW SES is a key influencer of other emergency service agencies and works closely with these partners to modernise and grow volunteering to
save lives and protect communities.


While major responsibilities are for flood, storm operations and tsunamis, the NSW SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the rural parts of the state. This includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, bush search and rescue, evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural), other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats, Urban Search and Rescue and Community First Response.

About you


To be successful in this role you will:

  • have experience in the provision of high quality administrative support;
  • operate as a key point for the collection and provision of information on the basis of which high level decisions are to be made (eg reward and recognition of members);
  • collect and compile information for, and prepare documentation in line with quality and organisational requirements, to support information flow and inform decision making;
  • assist in providing an efficient and effective communication link for information and advice between stakeholders, both internal and external; and
  • update and maintain records and databases, complying with administrative systems and processes to ensure that all information is accurate, stored correctly and accessible
