The Role

The Support Worker position is responsible for delivering high quality case management and support Women and Children who have experienced Domestic and Family Violence.

 

Louise Lodge is an emergency accommodation for women and children escaping Domestic and Family Violence.  The address of the refuge is confidential however it is in the Rockhampton Region. 

 

To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria:

  • Relevant Tertiary or Tafe Qualification minimal Diploma in Community and Human Services
  • Demonstrated experience working with women and children who have experienced Domestic and Family Violence
  • Demonstrated ability to use various modalities of intervention to support individual needs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the issues that affect Women and Children who have experienced Domestic and Family Violence
  • Established connections and or demonstrated experience working across a range of service providers, both government and non-government, to provide high quality services for families who have complex issues
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples; and people with a culturally and linguistically diverse background
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and web-based applications
  • Well-developed written and verbal communications skills, including interpersonal skills
  • Ability to liaise and negotiate with a diverse range of people and demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Dedication to, and engagement in, ongoing professional development
  • Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to take appropriate directions and to work as both a member of a team and independently with limited supervision
  • Demonstrate a friendly, positive attitude, with a willingness to learn
  • Effective communication and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain appropriate client confidentially at all times and work within professional boundaries
  • Demonstrate genuine respect, assertiveness and compassion for all people regardless of their situation
  • Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society
  • Understanding of risk management principles including current WHS legislation and regulations
