The Faculty of Health and Medicine (FHEAM) is the most comprehensive health faculty of its kind in Australia and one of the most comprehensive in the world. The Faculty brings together a wide variety of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional training programs aimed at preparing students for rewarding careers and research in the field of health care. With an annual income of $200m, the Faculty of Health and Medicine has four schools delivering 14 undergraduate and 19 post graduate degrees and 15 Priority Research Centres.

 

Your NEW opportunity

Positioned within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Unit within the Faculty of Health and Medicine, the Operations Manager – Central Coast is responsible for the administrative, technical and support requirements that facilitate delivery of core business activities: teaching and learning, research and research training, and clinical and community engagement.

This is a fixed term position for two years and is primarily based at Gosford Hospital, however, is required to support staff and operations at other UON sites on the Central Coast. The Central Coast region offers a relaxed, affordable and convenient lifestyle with access to beautiful beaches and national parks.

 

About your NEW role

This is a newly created position providing strategic operational, high level administrative and technical management and support in the growth and expansion of medical and health programs on the Central Coast.

In this role, you will manage and lead operational staff located at the (currently under construction) Gosford Health and Well-Being Precinct (GHWBP). You will work collaboratively with staff from the Faculty of Health and Medicine (FHEAM) and the Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of all programs and projects located on the Central Coast. The Operations Manager will be responsible for all UON FHEAM facilities on the Central Coast and the operational support of all programs and projects.

 

About you 

To be successful in this role, you will have experience at a strategic operational management level, leading an administrative support team within a professional environment.  Possessing a strong commercial acumen, you will be confident to succeed within the areas of HR, finance and the management of day to day operations including leading and mentoring administrative and technical staff to achieve desired outcomes.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Completion of a relevant post-graduate qualification combined with extensive relevant experience; or equivalent qualifications and experience in a similar field.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of an administrative/ technical support team.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability including the ability to effectively lead and inspire a team of professional staff to deliver exceptional performance/outcomes.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to build relationships and a collaborative way of working.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of workplace obligations to, and experience in leading and cultivating workplace practices and behaviours that promote, support and maintain a safe, healthy, equitable, diverse and respectful workplace; including responding appropriately to adverse accidents, incidents, behaviours, issues, reports and the like.
