ITC Youth Worker

MacKillop Family Services, a Catholic community agency, exists to support, foster hope and promote justice for children, young people and families, particularly those who have experienced distress, disadvantage and abuse.

MacKillop Family Services is an accredited provider of The Sanctuary Model. Sanctuary supports organisations to provide a safe and caring environment for people affected by trauma, and to maintain a culture that reflects these qualities at every level within the organisation.

ITC Youth Worker

A Casual Youth Worker opportunity is available within our Intensive Therapeutic Care program where you can make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged or vulnerable young people in Grafton. 

About the role

ITC Youth Worker – SCHCADS Level 3 starting at $30.77 per hour for permanent and $38.46 for casual positions. 

MacKillop Family Services is excited to be implementing Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) Services in NSW to support young people with high and complex needs. The ITC services will provide pro-active therapeutic care and have a strong focus on healing from trauma, providing an alternative to long term residential care with a broader range of placement options for young people to achieve positive outcomes in education, mental and physical health including permanency in their lives.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience working with children, young people and their families who have a history of complex or intergenerational trauma, abuse and neglect.
  • The required minimum qualification for this position: Diploma of Youth Work, Community Services or equivalent, however staff currently employed in residential care will have a transition period to gain the minimum qualifications.
  • A commitment towards the principles and practice of quality care in residential settings for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people, and to promote autonomy and self-determination for clients.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and respect for, cultural and linguistic diversity (CALD), including cultural safety for children from CALD backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication skills, including abilities in engaging well with young people and working collaboratively with other staff and professionals.

You must:

  • Adhere to all MacKillop policies and procedures, including our Code of Conduct, Statement of Confidentiality, etc.
  • Be available to work on a flexible basis, including evenings, overnights, weekends and public holidays.
  • Hold a current and valid employee type, Working with Children's Check (WWCC).
  • Hold a current and valid NSW driver's license.
