About the role

 

Based in our Head office in Tullamarine, we are seeking a Senior Software Developer who is passionate about working in a small cross-functional team including developers and analysts to help deliver the tools and infrastructure we need to build, test and release to our major airport and airline customers.  The position will relocate from Tullamarine to our new Essendon Fields office in May/June 2020.

Reporting to the Software Development Team Leader, this position will be responsible for developing software solutions across the project life cycle including design, development, testing and deployment tasks while working in a cross-functional team.  Additionally, this position is responsible for evaluating current frameworks and design and implement robust solutions to any gaps and technical debt found.  

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, code comments and clear code
  • Develops software by following specifications or user stories and collaborates with project teams to clarify, when required
  • Create and maintain documentation and code standards to ensure the project is accessible to new developers
  • Participates positively in an agile development culture and process, with ideas and suggestions for continuous improvement
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions for continuous improvement across all aspects of the role or any other issues affecting themselves or the team
  • Provides advice, ideas and suggestions on support and issue investigations to assist with full-stack contributing cause analysis

The key to your success in this role is your positive, can-do approach, ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with a small, fast-paced team of software engineers and key stakeholders.  You will enjoy exploring new technologies to solve problems.  In addition, you are an energetic and adaptable team player prepared to provide ongoing support to existing projects.

Skills and experience

 

Experience

  • Must be an Australian Citizen or have Permanent Residency. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of software development experience.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Senior level .NET experience including evaluating existing platforms and code bases, providing feedback and plans for future improvement
  • Experience in test engineering, automation and continuous integration tools and processes.

Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication and relationship building skills with a range of stakeholders.
  • A flexible team player and able to work autonomously.
  • Sound problem solving skills, with an ability to "think outside the box".
  • An ability to prioritise work requirements and work towards tight deadlines.
  • Interest in approaching previously unknown technologies, codebases, languages, frameworks and processes potentially learning on the
  • Demonstrates composure when dealing with ambiguity

Bonus Points for the following:

  • Exposure to hardware integration development
  • Exposure to airline systems or other complex enterprise systems
  • Experience with or knowledge of test automation, test engineering, continuous integration and continuous deployment tools and processes
  • Experience working in mature agile development environment     
  • Experience with WPF
