About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to make their mark and be a part of our Urban Forest Management section within the Operations Team. Reporting to the Team Leader - Urban Forest Management, you will be undertaking both scheduled and needs driven arboriculture work. Using your knowledge and skills and directions from your team leader, you will be undertaking tree maintenance activities including emergency response work, tree pruning and tree removal within Darwin Municipality.

Day to day tasks include:

  • Assist with ongoing risk management and enhancement of our Urban forests by performing activities such as, but not limited to:
    • Tree pruning and/or removal;
    • Stump grinding;
    • Root pruning and root barrier installation; and
    • Storm response clearance works
  • Operate plant & equipment for the pruning or removal of trees across the municipality as directed for public safety, visibility, necessary clearances, etc
  • Proficiently and safely undertake aerial tree works when required
  • Operate and perform work as required from an elevated work platform
  • Ensure the maintenance and cleaning Council equipment, reporting any defects or failures of such equipment

You will have:

  • Certificate III in Arboriculture
  • OHS White Card (current)
  • Completion of Unit of Competency - Operate and maintain chainsaws (AHCMOM213)
  • High-Risk Work Licence - Boom type Elevating Work Platform (WP)
  • Medium Rigid Vehicle Licence
