YORC is looking to employ a Chief Executive Officer to manage its remote Outstations in the Daly River/Port Keats Aboriginal Land Trust area of the NT. Applications addressing the selection criteria will be received up to 7 March 2020 addressed to email:- Or to PMB 132 Winnellie NT 0822.

Set in a most attractive location amongst towering sandstone hills and numerous freshwater creeks and billabongs, the Headquarters at Wudicupildyerr; approximately 110km west of Daly River will be the incumbent’s principal location. An elevated two bedroom residence, a late model automatic Land Cruiser Sedan fully serviced and maintained and available for personal use including periods of annual leave is available as part of a package of benefits valued at $110k to $121k.

The CEO should have at least five years’ experience in managing the provision of services to remote and indigenous communities. The person will be responsible for the financial management of funds provided by the Australian Government and the NT Government to provide essential services such as maintenance of housing, sewerage, potable water, solid waste, airstrips, roads and a Centrelink agency. The care of the affairs of employees and residents against an Indigenous cultural environment is equal in importance to the other services provided.

The CEO will report to a Board of Directors of nine Traditional Owners and will manage YORC under a broad delegation process through an external firm of accountants and supported by a team of auditors and legal practitioners appointed from time to time. In this role the incumbent will be required to work the number of hours needed to satisfy the objects of the position.

Essential Services such as Electricity, Water and Sewerage are managed by specialist contractors through a small team of Essential Services Officers who maintain such equipment on a daily basis. Some of the Outstations such as Emu Point are distant from the headquarters by several hours drive and are sometimes isolated by floodwaters for several months during the Wet Season. There are at least three serviced airstrips within YORC’s control and access to Darwin is therefore guaranteed by light plane for both business and personal requirements.

As an Aboriginal Corporation, YORC (ICN-2322) reports to ORIC and its general and financial reporting is right up to date. As a Homelands Service Provider, YORC (ABN-49 751 339 203) is fully up to date with its reporting requirements including the current year audit to the Department of Local Government, Housing and Community Development. The organisation operates under a tight budget servicing a combination of brand new and ageing infrastructure supplied by NT Government funding allocations. An ability to write grants applications with accurate financial calculations will be well regarded.
