Who we are

Legune Station is located 120km North east of Kununurra on 306,000 hectares of private land in the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf, bordering Western Australia and the picturesque Kimberley region.  Legune Station runs 35,000 head of high-grade Brahman cattle and produces 4,000 Tonne per annum of quality hay with approximately 20 staff located at the station.  The region boasts some of the best fishing in Australia and provides easy access to top attractions such as Lake Argyle, the Bungle Bungles and El Questro just to name a few!

 

About the role

Reporting to the Manager’s Assistant, you will be responsible for planning menus, organising and ordering supplies and preparing tasty and nutritious meals for approx. 12-20 staff and visitors on the homestead. You will also be responsible for maintaining cleaning and hygiene standards equivalent to that of a commercial kitchen.

Key duties include:

  • Plan and prepare daily meals for staff living on the homestead, as well as visitors.
  • Ensure baked items are available for staff for packed smoko & lunch.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas in line with health and safety standards.
  • Liaise with management regarding staff meal requirements.
  • Ensure all kitchen and associated laundry is clean and available at all times.
  • Maintain kitchen supplies and stores, complete store orders on time.
  • Supervise and train cooks offsider if required.

 

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in cooking & baking nutritious, tasty food for groups of people.
  • Experience working in a remote environment.
  • Understanding of and ability to follow health and safety standards and maintain food hygiene standards.
  • Must have been or be prepared to be vaccinated against tetanus, hepatitis and Q fever.
  • Ability to prepare meals in adherence with set budget.
