About MLG OZ

MLG Oz is a West Australian owned and operated business with operations located throughout Western Australia and the Northern Territory.  Starting as a small contractor providing silica mining & haulage services for BHP Billiton back in 2000, our operations have since expanded to include crushing and screening, quarry products, bulk transport services and site civil works. 

Job tasks and responsibilities

MLG Oz are currently seeking a 'hands on' leading hand to join our existing Goldfields operations.

Reporting to the Site Maintenance Manager, this position is:

  • FIFO x Perth
  • 2:1 roster, day shift & night shift
  • Permanent full-time position

This role would suit an experienced Heavy Duty Fitter who is looking to advance their career or an established Heavy Duty Fitter/Leading Hand.

To be successful in your application, you will need the following:

  • Relevant trade qualifications required to perform your duties as a Heavy Duty Fitter
  • Previous experience as a leading hand
  • Working knowledge of plant and site equipment mechanics, maintenance requirements and associated procedures (including trailers)
  • Personal initiative, motivation and drive, with the demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and in a team to achieve work outcomes 
  • Strong time management, communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Sound record keeping skills and good knowledge of workshop operations
  • Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary work teams

Experience with PRONTO would also be advantageous.

The experience with following equipment will be highly regarded:

  • Caterpillar 988K and 988H
  • Mack and Kenworth Prime Movers.
  • Previous mine site experience
  • Certificates of competency and alternate transport industry experience
