Laboratory Technician

Key responsibilities:

  • Conducting a wide range of specialized tests and measurements using manual, semi-automated and fully automated techniques. Of particular focus is the ability to perform disinfectant efficacy testing to TGO 104, BSEN 1276, and Endotoxin tests.
  • Preparing samples for testing.
  • Interpreting test results and performing calculations.
  • Disposing of all hazardous waste and spent or surplus samples safely in accordance with the procedure/work instruction.
  • Cleaning designated laboratory areas using appropriate cleaning agents and procedures to keep the laboratory fit for purpose.
  • Adhering to the general and area-specific laboratory Personal Protective Equipment requirements.
  • Additional competencies include: providing information to customers, analysing data and reporting results, monitoring the quality of test results and data, performing biological procedures.
  • Liaising with the Coordinator and / or Consultant to ensure testing is performed in a timely manner for the client.

Key Requirements:

  • Certificate IV, Diploma or equivalent qualification in a Laboratory or Scientific such as Laboratory Techniques
  • Experience working in a similar laboratory environment
  • Experience with TGO 104, BSEN 1276, and Endotoxin tests.
  • Quality-focused and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organisation
  • Strong IT skills, intermediate ability with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience in using the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) is desirable
  • Knowledge of NATA and TGA requirements, as well as working to GLP and GMP standards is desirable
