About the Role

The Technical Publishing Assistant will support the publication processes that combine the input of Standards Australia's committee members, in-house Project Managers, Editors and Technical Drawing specialists. 

The Technical Publishing Assistant’s role is principally to prepare documents for publication in various media. They will also provide first level support within the publishing services team on how to use current publishing technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing first level support to the PS team on Publishing Services tools by troubleshooting issues and bugs, and escalating where necessary
  • Working and experimenting with new layouts/set ups in complex documents, as required
  • Advising on appropriate workflow procedures 
  • Formatting technical documents 
  • Verifying the accuracy of work when requested
  • Communicating with stakeholders in a timely and professional manner
  • Knowledge sharing with colleagues
  • General project administration 
Desirable Skills

The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail and strong Microsoft Office skills. They may also be familiar with some of the technology we use:
  • eXtyles
  • Typefi
  • oXygen
  • MathType
  • Microsoft Visual Basic
  • Adobe Suite
  • HTML/XML
  • JIRA
  • Confluence
Minimum Education/Professional Requirements
  • University degree in a similar field
  • Experience in a publishing role
