Senior Plant Metallurgist - Gold

Blackham Resources Limited is a Perth based, ASX listed gold mining company that owns 100% of the Matilda-Wiluna Gold operation located in the Northern Goldfields of Western Australia.  The Company boasts a significant geological endowment with over 6.4 million ounces of combined free milling and sulphide mineralisation within its existing Mineral Resources. 

 

Blackham is progressing its operating strategy aimed at significantly increasing gold production over the next 3 years.  This will be achieved through extensions to the existing open pit and underground free milling operation and a staged sulphide mining and processing upgrade.  Stage 1 sulphide concentrate production is advancing well and is intended to increase output to 100-120,000 oz per annum from early 2021.   Stage 2 expansion will target +250,000 oz per annum with options to process both free-milling and sulphide mineralisation concurrently under review.

 

Reporting to the Production Superintendent and working closely with operations, maintenance, ore control, metallurgical/assay labs, and outside departments to ensure environmental compliance and safe functionality of the gold plants operations.

 

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Controlling and monitoring plant metallurgical parameters
  • Check day-to-day processing plant performance
  • Producing and maintaining daily, weekly and monthly Metal accounting
  • Evaluate and solve trouble-shooting issues within the process department
  • Implementing process improvement ideas and delivering metallurgical projects, in order to meet budget and forecast
  • Provide technical and operational input into the commissioning of flotation upgrade project

 

To be considered the successful candidate must demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in metallurgy, or a related process discipline
  • Operational experience working in a gold processing plant – CIP/CIL preferred
  • Exposure to process plant optimisation and capital projects
  • Experience with filtering and flotation
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships throughout the mine
  • Must have rights to reside and work unrestricted within Australia
  • C Class Drivers Licence (manual)

 

Salary & Conditions:

The successful candidate will be employed on a permanent basis and operate an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth to site.  A competitive salary will be negotiated dependent on experience and in-line with market expectations.
