Assistant in Nursing & Patient Care Assistant (Recruitment Pool)

St John of God Health Care is a leading health care provider, with private and public hospitals, home nursing and Social Outreach services throughout Australia.

St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals are seeking Assistant in Nursing and Patient Care Assistant’s to join a dedicated team on a part time fixed term or casual basis, working all shifts Monday to Sunday.

Successful applicants will be selected for the recruitment pool and may be offered fixed term or casual employment as vacancies arise within the next six months.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • As a Patient Care Assistant, to hold a Certificate III in Health Service Assistant (Client/Patient Services) or similar; or significant work experience such that meet the competencies and duties of the role
  • As an Assistant in Nursing, to successfully complete a certificate III Health Services Assistance (Acute Care) or completed undergraduate Nursing studies of 12-month duration with the ability to demonstrate competence and perform the skills contained within the position description.
  • Demonstrate well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and ability to identify work priorities and plan to meet them.
  • Ability to follow instructions from Registered Nurse/Midwives regarding learning requirements and seeks assistance to achieve identified goals.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in working in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of principles of manual handling.
  • Knowledge of basic cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Food handling skills including hygiene standards.
  • An understanding of and commitment to Quality Improvement and Infection Control standards.
  • As an Assistant in Nursing, have recent experience in a similar role in an acute Health Care facility.
