Executive Director

  • Lead Strategy and Operations

Your new company
The Catholic Diocese of Townsville has an outstanding opportunity for an Executive Director to lead and provide direction to the newly established Mary McKillop Childcare North Queensland (MMCNQ) which cares for over 1000 children daily across the Townsville and broader North Queensland region.

With a long history in childcare and education, the Catholic Diocese has established MMCNQ with a view to consolidate and standardise outstanding childcare services across their 29 centres, including Early Learning Centres, Kindergartens and Outside of School Hours Care services.

Your new role
Reporting to the Bishop of Townsville, the Executive Director will have two core focuses; strategy and operations.

Firstly, you will set and drive the strategic direction of the organisation, ensuring services align with values and mission of the Catholic Diocese and financial budgets and plans for growth are implemented.

Secondly, you will develop operational plans and ensure three Area Managers and the 350 plus staff members working at the services are delivering the operational objectives associated with the needs of children in their care. Given this is a newly created organisation, you will play a critical role in the initial restructuring and the consolidation of governance, policies and procedures across the centres and ensuring legislative and compliance obligations are met.

What you'll need to succeed
For this position we are seeking an experienced Executive, ideally with the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business or childcare & education fields
  • Experience managing teams and operations in a not-for-profit community and service environment
  • Strong abilities in strategic & operational planning
  • Demonstrated success in leading and driving organisational change
  • Working knowledge of child care statutory and government requirements, as well as demonstrated success working with contemporary child care principles, practices and systems will be highly regarded

Please note that Police Clearance and Working with Children checks will need to be conducted as part of the recruitment process for this role.

What you'll get in return
This is an opportunity to join an energised team and be part of an organisation with family friendly, caring and community focused values. For a period of time, you will be provided with support from an internal Executive based in Brisbane who has assisted with the initial phase of the organisation’s establishment and has expertise in the child care and education sector. You will be further supported by working with other agency Executive Directors and have access to Shared Services Support for business functions (such as finance and HR). Total remuneration package will be highly competitive and commensurate with experience (circa $180-220K neg.) and relocation assistance provided.
