Business Banker

Your Team

Small Business Banking (SBB) builds relationships and provides services to approximately 800,000 business customers nationally.

You will be part of a team who have a diverse mix of experience, collaborate well and hold our customers at the center of everything we do.

We are committed to understanding our customers, and delivering insights and creative solutions, to drive sustainable business growth. Our Small Business Team meet the needs of Small Business customers through proactive client contact and opportunity origination and fulfilment in the sub $100k space.

Your Impact & Contribution

The purpose of Business Banker is to provide support to Small Business Customers with an identified need or opportunity, assisting them with the end to end fulfilment of that need, supporting business development and retention of client relationships by providing a premium service experience for all client interactions.

The Business Banker will improve our speed to market and responsiveness to meeting customer needs by managing new opportunities, and identifying solutions for Small Business customers. They will also complete proactive calls to Small Business managed clients supported by our Customer Engagement (CEE) Next Best Conversation insights.


Our Business Bankers are passionate about customer service and focussed on achieving our goal of being number one in customer satisfaction through the delivery of high-quality, customer centric conversations, supporting Small Business customers with timely fulfilment of their needs. A Business Banker will not provide relationship management to clients on an ongoing basis.

Your Reporting Lines

The Business Banker reports into the Team Manager, Small Business. The Business Banker does not have any direct reports.


Your Responsibilities

  • Originate and initiate fulfilment of business products for Small Business Banking customers
  • Conduct non face to face needs based conversations for clients with an identified new opportunity
  • Manage Opportunity Management Pipeline progression
  • Generating and assisting Retail Banking Services (RBS) and Business and Private Bank (BPB) team members to support the referral of business leads
  • Provide high-quality, timely and exceptional support & customer service when dealing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships
  • Works with others as one team, cooperates and communicates openly and contributes to an environment of trust and respect
  • Complies with regulatory requirements

Your Skills & Experience

Technical Skills:

  • Previous experience in Commercial Lending and/or Sales
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Sound financial analysis skills
  • Sound commercial acumen

You will have:

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to an agile environment
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder engagement/management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills (both face to face and non-face to face)
  • Ability to work well autonomously and with the broader team

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of business systems associated with B&PB, e.g. CommSee, CCL, SPARR & RiskInSite

Your Qualifications

Required:

  • FSRA Tier 2 Accreditation
  • Credit Approval Authority (CAA) Level 2 (or willing to obtain this level of accreditation)

Desirable:

  • A recognised qualification or degree in a Risk/Compliance/Business related discipline
