Trades Assistant

Weir Minerals Australia Ltd, a member of the Weir Group PLC, is the market leader in the design, manufacture and supply of minerals processing equipment to the mining industry, both within Australia and throughout the world. 

We currently have a vacancy for a Trades Assistant to assist the Service Centre trades staff in achieving the safety, environmental, quality and Lean aspects of production.

This position will provide support in the areas of daily workshop production and on-site maintenance, in addition you will be providing logistic support and ensuring compliance with the EHS standards through the service centre.   

The key responsibilities of this role will include: ( but not limited to ) 

  • Assisting in receipt & dispatch of inwards & outwards jobs
  • Track stores goods movements using SAP
  • Ensure that the on-time preparation of inventory to satisfy scheduled pickups
  • Maintain all equipment in safe and working condition
  • FL and Overhead crane operation 
  • Supporting the fitters with all documentation compliance requirements including customer reporting requirements
  • Completing tasks such as spray painting , stripping pumps and assisting in our stores area 
  • Ensuring site accommodation for the fitters is booked when required in accords with customer protocol
  • Reporting of hazards in a timely manner to supervisor
  • Communicating with supervisor about safety improvements to be made

To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Certificate qualifications in Warehouse Operations are desirable but not essential
  • Forklift license is essential
  • Dogging and or Rigging Tickets desirable but not essential
  • BMA Core Inductions, Standard 11 any Site Inductions would be favourable
  • Microsoft Office Suite and previous experience with SAP is essential
