Head of Department - Learning Enhancement

We are Queensland's first grammar school. Our school caters for boys from Prep to Year 12 through an outstanding education offered to day and boarding students. We have developed innovative approaches to address the specific individual learning and personal development needs of boys.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Department - Learning Enhancement to join our team commencing Term 3 2020. 

Reporting directly to the Dean of Academics, the successful applicant will be focused on the management and co-ordination of the Learning Enhancement Team (P - 12) and the facilitation of experiences that enhance the learning for all students but specifically in the provision of extension programmes and a programme of learning support. The successful applicant will have a proven history of exemplary teaching practice and staff leadership, along with the management of administrative and resources of the department.

The duties of the Head of Department – Learning Enhancement will cover the following keys areas:

  • Oversee and implement the procedure for identifying students with exceptional potential and learning support requirements;
  • Provide professional development to staff working within the extension/learning support programs and collaborate with classroom teachers of identified students;
  • Develop, implement, monitor and review advanced learning plans and learning support programs;
  • Liaise and support Classroom Teachers, Teacher Aide and Specialised Learning Support staff and to ensure the effective provision of learning support and enhancement programs across P-12; and 
  • Oversee the application of grants and funding
