Intake Officer - NDIS

Contract- leave coverage

approx. 10 month role

THE ROLE

Samaritans is committed to supporting adults with a disability and their carers through the provision of a wide range of well-coordinated, integrated, flexible and responsive services. The Intake Officer will be the first point of contact for enquires about the provision of programs and supports for participants satisfying eligibility criteria. 

The purpose of the Intake Officer is to work closely with new and existing NDIA participants and their families to identify what current and future supports are required to make progress with a person’s goals and aspirations and enable a good life. The Intake Officer will work with participants and their families to build capacity to exercise choice and control and support them to achieve their goals by accessing supports and services.

The Intake officer will be responsible for the intake of all program referrals across the geographical areas of the organisation.

ESSENTIALS

  • Demonstrated understanding of support needs of people with a disability and their carers and a commitment to person centred service delivery
  • High capability in relationship building
  • Ability to synthesize and analyze complex information and make decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and monitor standards, policies and procedures across a range of services within an allocated budget
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise work load
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure cultural consideration in service access and delivery for young people, families and those with a disability who have experienced multiple and complex disadvantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain collaborative relationships and partnerships with external service providers.
  • Previous experience in a coordination role
  • Demonstrated understanding of principles of record keeping, anti-discrimination, work place health and safety, mandatory reporting and other relevant legislation
  • Proven written and oral communication skills of a high order to a range of audiences.
  • Use of Windows and Microsoft Office computer packages

You will also be required to have a current NSW Drivers Licence, WWCC, undertake a Criminal Reference Check & Pre-Employment medical and hold a current First Aid Certificate.
