Commercial Relationship Manager

Join the Most Recommended Business Bank*

* 2020 and 2019 DBM Financial Awards

Bendigo Bank has a unique position in the Banking and Finance industry: we are a trusted brand with a high Net Promoter Score and the time is right for growth as businesses reconsider the sort of bank they want to partner with. As Australia's Most Trusted Bank* and Most Recommended Business Bank*, your career is in safe hands - our customers need us now more than ever.

About the role

Bendigo Bank’s Business division has resourced our teams to ensure we can provide the high level of service and face to face relationships that our customers are looking for - and that gives us our competitive advantage.

Our Commercial Relationship Managers are known internally as Middle Market Managers.  In this role you will manage a diverse commercial portfolio, responsible for complex lending typically in the range of $750,000 - $10 million.

Your portfolio is small, allowing for growth, and for building deep relationships with your existing customers.  It’s worth noting that this is an existing and performing portfolio.

In this role you will:

  • Develop strong networks with local industry, business and community groups and implement localised plans to raise the profile of the Business Banking Team in the community.
  • Connect with your customers through quality conversations to design and deliver innovative, holistic and needs-based solutions.  Build deep and lasting relationships.  Acquire new customers. Maintain credit and portfolio quality.
  • Connect with a large network of company and Community Bank Branches who are well respected and strongly engaged with the communities they serve.  Form partnership relationships with branch managers, coach and lead education of Branch teams, build trusted relationships with Credit Risk.

This region covers the NSW south coast, from Picton down to Pambula.  Ideally based out of Wollongong, there is flexibility for the role to be based elsewhere such Ulladulla, Nowra, Kiama and Shellharbour.  Or maybe you are in Sydney either looking for a sea-change or happy to structure your customer and branch visits to be covered by a road trip each fortnight.

This is a full time, permanent position with flexible work options available.  Rest assured, we will be customizing our onboarding experience with both relevant distancing restrictions and candidate preference in mind. Induction and onboarding may involve regular Sydney based work for a period of time to ensure and enable a solid start and to build relationships with the team and key stakeholders.

About you

We are looking for someone who is looking to continue and grow the success of their career with us, and proudly tell our story. Does this sound like you?

  • Experienced lender with well-developed business lending and credit analysis skills
  • The ability to deliver appropriate financial solutions, ideally demonstrating experience with debtor finance, trade finance, equipment finance, cashflow lending and working with trading businesses
  • Customer portfolio relationship management experience
  • Proven and proactive approach to business development with established quality referral sources and networks
  • Significant knowledge of Commercial markets
  • Above all, a dedication to deliver on the customer experience in-line with our values and critical behaviours

What we offer

  • Competitive remuneration package, including vehicle (or allowance)
  • A range of staff benefits including discounts on bank products and services, share offers, flexible work options, paid parental leave and purchased leave options, excellent learning and development programs
  • As part of a national organisation with a strong regional presence we can offer exciting opportunities within the broader Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Group - we're big, but small

About us

Bendigo Bank is the better big bank: Australia’s fifth largest retail bank and a top 70 ASX listed company.  We are a national organization with more than 7,500 employees helping 1.8 million customers to achieve their financial goals.

Our purpose is the same today as it was when we were founded 160 years ago; that is, to feed into the prosperity of our customers and their communities, not off it.  It is this unfailing commitment to take the time to connect to our customers that has given us our consistent success.

We recognise the importance of diversity and continually strive to provide an inclusive work environment where people are treated with respect, feel valued and can achieve success.  We believe our success depends on the commitment, integrity and skill of our staff.
