V&V Engineer/Officer

Luerssen Australia is a subsidiary of Lürssen, a 4th generation family-owned German company that builds Naval defence vessels and luxury yachts from its nine shipyards across Northern Germany.

Luerssen Australia is engaged as the prime contractor to build 12 Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Department of Defence over a 12 year period. 

 

The successful applicant will be required to undergo the Australian Defence Force Security Clearance process, of which a minimum requirement is Australian Citizenship.

 

The Role

This role exists to support the delivery of the overall Verification and Validation (V&V) program for the design and construction of twelve Off-Shore Patrol Vessels. This role with carry out the required V&V support activities, maintain the V&V database, and make recommendations based on the V&V results within the SEA1180 Program.

 

This incumbent will be required to co-ordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure the acceptance of the SEA1180 Program.

 

Responsibilities

  • Review V&V plans, processes and procedures
  • Prepare for and support Test Readiness Reviews
  • Co-ordinate and conduct V&V activities
  • Development of Acceptance Test Procedures
  • Coordination of Harbour and Sea Acceptance activities
  • Detect faults and identify rectification strategies
  • Prepare post-test reports and analysis
  • Develop monitoring requirements and preparing status reports
  • Review and approve subcontractor test reports
  • Assess the system design or supply data for overall compliance with contractual requirements
  • Managing the data information to support classification requirements and final acceptance
  • Coordinating contractor V&V activities in the overall V&V program.

 

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (engineering) with several years relevant experience or relevant trade certificate with significant experience
  • Post trade qualifications will be highly regarded
  • Proven experience in platform acceptance
  • Experience in design requirements management and testing activities
  • Experience and understanding of defence environment
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement and contract management
  • Experience in working in large and complex programs
  • Experience in managing multiple activities, priorities and effectively managing these time-frames
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer experience levels.
  • Experience or exposure to defence projects – desirable
  • Microsoft Office Suite – intermediate to advanced skills
  • Well-developed communication  and interpersonal skills
