The Institute for Glycomics is a flagship biomedical research institute at Griffith University's Gold Coast Campus. The Institute has some of Australia's most renowned research leaders who undertake multidisciplinary research in various biological systems. A key research area within the Institute is the role of carbohydrates in mammalian systems, and in particular their involvement in various infectious diseases and cancer.

The Institute's business team has been instrumental in delivering year-on-year growth in research income and new partnerships across the industry, government and philanthropic sectors. The team is focussed on attracting new commercial research income, building new partnerships with industry and raising the profile of the Institute to ensure the Institute's continued growth.

The opportunity
T he position will be responsible for developing technology packages that enable the General and Business Managers to establish commercial opportunities for the Institute for Glycomics. The position will help to appraise the commercial value of research conducted within the Institute for Glycomics.

Additionally, the position will be responsible for processing confidentiality, material transfer, collaboration and other types of agreements. This will involve liaising with external organisations to finalise and execute agreements. The position will also be responsible for processing patent actions and managing the Institute's patent database.

This is a fixed term (two years), full time position based at the Gold Coast campus.

About you
The successful candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications and at least one year's experience in a relevant role. They must have proven ability to support the conversion of academic research into commercial projects, and demonstrate the ability to evaluate technologies from technical, financial, competitor and market perspectives. They must also have experience in research contract processing.

Salary range
HEW Level 6: $78,072 - $83,275 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $91,344 - $97,432 per annum.
