The position/specific tasks

The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) is seeking suitably skilled and motivated people to work as policy advisers in its Digital Investment Branch.

The role of the DTA is to lead digital transformation to make government services simple, smart and user-focused. We have wide-ranging accountabilities including whole of government digital strategy, policy and advice, as well as the delivery of digital platforms, services, skills and capability development.

We offer interesting and challenging work that is at the forefront of the Australian Government’s policy agenda and reform priorities. We work closely with agencies from across the Australian Public Service, industry stakeholders, other jurisdictions and our international counterparts to promote best practice in digital policy and service delivery.

The role of Digital Investment Branch is to oversee the development and delivery of digital and ICT proposals and projects across the Australian Public, as well as develop whole of government digital investment policies and frameworks.

Roles are currently available in our Agency Engagement and Investment Strategies teams. In either team, you will be responsible for engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders as well as representing the DTA at cross-agency meetings and other events.  You will also be responsible for working across the DTA and with central agencies to develop and coordinate policy advice to Government.

Selection Criteria

Our ideal candidate will display:

  • High levels of initiative, a positive attitude and learning mindset.
  • Sound analytical skills including a demonstrated capacity to critically assess a wide range of information to provide high quality written and verbal advice to the DTA Executive and senior stakeholders.
  • Well-developed people and communication skills, including a demonstrated capacity to work with a broad range of stakeholders in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Good team skills including a positive approach to resolving issues and driving change.

The roles would suit people with a public policy or project delivery background and who have very strong people and stakeholder engagement skills.

An understanding of digital and technology issues is helpful but not essential. We employ people from a wide range of professional backgrounds and actively support people to learn about digital transformation concepts and practices. We also support the use of flexible work practices

Qualifications and experience

  • Qualifications in public policy or a related field, or in a contemporary digital and ICT related area, will be highly regarded.

Eligibility

Security Clearance level required: Baseline (or ability to obtain and maintain).

To be eligible for employment with the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA), applicants must be an Australian citizen. 

An applicant's suitability for employment with the DTA will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes an Australian Police check.
