Human Resources Advisor

Cross River Rail is a new 10.2 kilometre rail line running from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, which includes 5.9 kilometres of twin tunnels under the Brisbane River and CBD.

It will deliver four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street and upgrades to Dutton Park and Exhibition stations.

Cross River Rail will unlock the bottleneck at the core of the South East Queensland rail network, allowing more trains to run more often and integrating with new roads and bus services to enable a turn-up-and-go transport system for the whole region.

It is a critical public transport infrastructure project which will improve our quality of life, help our economy keep growing, generate thousands of jobs, and activate urban development.  

The purpose of the position is to provide advice to staff on operational HR functions such as; payroll and recruitment and to provide project support to the HR team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and deliver recruitment and selection activities in consultation with internal stakeholders and external candidates.
  • Deliver onboarding processes.
  • Manage the establishment and Corporate Administration Agency reports including ensuring that probation and increment requests are finalised.
  • Manage the HR Inbox to ensure timely and accurate responses are provided.
  • Provide support to the HR team on projects and activities undertaken.
  • Provide HR specialist advice on payroll, leave, relevant legislation and policies and procedures.
  • Undertake research and/or identify issues and provide advice and solutions to the Head of People and Performance.
  • Develop and deliver administrative systems and process to support the delivery of allocated tasks internally and in partnership with the shared service provider and external suppliers.
  • Prepare written correspondence including, briefing notes, policies and procedures, letters and HR documentation.
  • Generate HR reports to include core metrics on tenure, turnover, leave liability, vacancies, diversity and other metrics as requested.
  • Action HR workflow configuration, changes and updates as required (TRIM)
  • Undertake other HR duties as required.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following key competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to undertake multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR practices within the Queensland Government.
  • Demonstrated understanding of employment legislation and Awards.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse issues, establish a course of action and work with minimum direction.
  • Proven written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships to communicate with internal and external stakeholders, partners and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work individually or as a member of a team to manage conflicting priorities to deliver outputs and outcomes within a fast paced project environment.
