The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Junior Service Desk Technician to join our National Information & Technology division.
 
This position is engaged to investigate and resolve software and hardware problems of all computer users for all applicable offices
 
Responsibilities:
  • Provide first level support the business with IT systems and software;
  • Answers, evaluates and prioritises incoming requests and assists users with hardware, software, networking and other technology related problems;
  • Provide support to staff in a face to face capacity on the ground and remotely over the phone with support tools such as TeamViewer and Remote Desktop;
  • Handles problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution and follow-up for user problems, escalating specialist problems to specialist teams if warranted;
  • Involved with projects and effectively deliver on delegated tasks;
  • Test/evaluate hardware and software to determine benefits and suitability for users;
  • Configure and Install personal computers, mobile devices, software and peripheral equipment;
  • Maintains the network hardware and software including servers, workstations and peripherals;
  • Polices security in accordance with the national IT procedures and policies; 
  • Remote and onsite assistance for other offices when required; and
  • Basic experience with Active Directory, Windows 10, Office 365 and ServiceNow would be looked upon favourably.
 
The Successful Applicant
 
  • A minimum of 6 months experience in a similar role is required;
  • An enthusiastic attitude towards personal computing and technology is essential and a broad knowledge of application software that is available;
  • Proven experience maintaining PC's at a hardware component level;
  • Proven experience working under limited supervision;
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships;
  • Knowledge and understanding of trends and developments in I.T.;
  • A willingness to work flexible hours;
  • Enjoys dealing with clients face to face; and
  • Working within a professional services environment is advantageous.
