Housing Officer / Property Manager - Mid North (SA)

Unity Housing Company Ltd (Unity) is the largest single provider of low cost community housing in South Australia. We are a values based organisation and specialise in the provision of housing and accommodation for people on low income, ageing, living with a disability or experiencing homelessness in SA. 

Unity has been committed to creating a footprint in remote and regional towns in South Australia to strengthen the support and services to people in these communities.  Over the last six years the organisation has been focusing its efforts in developing and establishing a portfolio in the Northern Region and as a result are now seeking a full time Housing Officer to manage the portfolio in this region with properties located in Port Augusta, Port Pirie and the surrounding area.   Based and working out of a serviced office in Port Pirie, this position will report to the Team Leader– North Region.. 

This position would suit a housing professional with extensive hands on experience in property management who is able to demonstrate their ability to work alone, remotely.   With sound interpersonal and communication skills the ideal candidate will need to demonstrate their passion in providing self-directed responsive and professional tenancy and housing management service across a varied portfolio with diligence and empathy.  Knowledge and experience working with housing and tenancy management data bases would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following:

  1. Experienced Housing / Property Management professional able to meet targets and deadlines with minimal direction.
  2. Cert IV Property Management qualifications, and demonstrated sound working knowledge of the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (SACAT) processes and professional standards in the industry.
  3. High level Computer Skills, preferably with Microsoft Office Suite and Tenancy Management systems, administrative and time management Skills.
  4. Advanced communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to negotiate through difficult and challenging situations.
  5. Previous experience and proven empathy for people with multiple and complex barriers to sustain a successful tenancy.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of Work Health Standards, particularly in relation to working alone.

The successful candidate will require a driver's licence and will be provided with a tool of trade vehicle to undertake the requirements of the role.   The successful applicant will also be required to submit a current police clearance and DHS Working with Children Check.
