Youth Development Worker - Student Wellbeing and Engagement Program

3Bridges Community is a growing, vibrant, not for profit community organisation providing a variety of government funded services to the communities of South Eastern Sydney.

We are seeking a Youth Development Worker for our Student Wellbeing and Engagement Program to provide professional informed support for young people/students 5-12 years, helping to maintain and improve their engagement within an educational setting.

The Youth Development Worker-Student Wellbeing and Engagement Program will have a focus on early intervention and will build relationships with students, school staff, parents or care givers and the community to help students prepare themselves to make a positive contribution to society and in their adult life.

Key components of this role are to provide support to targeted young people / students 5-12, through individual support, program delivery to improve wellbeing and increase engagement of students.

The role requires exceptional planning skills and the ability to effectively facilitate group programs. The position requires cultural sensitivity and upmost confidentiality with a willingness to go outside ones comfort zone to enable a better outcome for the young people attending the school.

Essential experience or skills

  • NSW Current Drivers Licence
  • NSW Working with Children Check
  • Department of Education Child Protection Awareness
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work or Equivalent Qualification.
  • Minimum 3 year’s experience providing Case Work to young people.
  • Experience working with Young People with complex needs specifically 5-12 years of age.
  • Experience in delivering targeted programs to young people and with strength in managing social issues/anxiety.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and respect for, cultural and linguistic diversity (CALD).
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to manage own workload and use initiative.
  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work and comply with all WH&S Standards and Regulations.

Desirable criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications Diploma or higher in relevant field
  • Second Language

The successful candidate will require National Police Clearance prior to appointment (completed by 3Bridges)
