Accountant

WPH is a well-established Mining Services Contractor that operates throughout Australia. We are a client focused organisation with a strong track record of successful delivery of contracts in mining, crushing & screening and bulk handling projects.

WPH currently has an opportunity for an experienced and pro-active Accountant to join our finance team based at our Naval Base Office. This role will partner closely with the business to provide analytical and financial support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing month end management accounts and reporting;
  • Managing the overall accounting function for a joint venture and subsidiary entity, including invoicing, payments, bank reconciliations, BAS preparation and lodgement;
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, including monthly hire purchase reconciliations;
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, PAYG Withholding and PAYG instalments;
  • Liaising with key internal and external parties, including auditors;
  • Seek continuous improvements and complete ad hoc project work as required;
  • Any other task as directed by the Financial Controller

Essential Criteria:

  • A relevant degree in Accounting/Finance is essential;
  • CA or CPA Qualified or working towards being fully qualified;
  • Must have a minimum of 2+ years post degree experience;
  • Proven experience within a resources or project environment;
  • Have a hands on approach that relates closely to the business;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Experience with Dynamics GP, Xero and Pay Global desirable but not essential;
  • Be able to operate well within a changing dynamic environment, improve efficiencies and drive change;
  • High overall computer literacy and Microsoft office skills;
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels including key internal and external stakeholders;
  • Well organised and able to prioritise competing demands in a fast paced environment.
